CPIMA Sophomore Research Experience

Not offered in the 2008/2009 academic year.

Program Description
CPIMA has a new program for Stanford sophomores who are interested in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related areas. We are offering a 2-quarter academic-year research program for students to work closely with graduate or postdoctoral mentors as research assistants (8 hr/wk). Students will be required to participate in weekly meetings that will include some workshops designed around topics important to research (e.g. speaking and writing skills) as well as a regular forum for discussing their own research progress.

We anticipate that students who participate in this program will use the experience to develop independent research projects that may develop into independent summer research projects and ultimately into honors projects.

Attendance at weekly CPIMA sophomore intern meeting
